Bluetooth के आविष्कार ने कई सारी चीज़ों को आसान बना दिया। आज इसका प्रयोग लगभग सभी डिवाइसेज़ में होता है। शुरुआती दौर में मोबाइल इस्तेमाल करने वालों की इस तकनीक के साथ कई यादें जुड़ी हैं। उस दौर में जब सोशल मैसेजिंग एप नहीं आए थे, Bluetooth अपने दोस्तों के साथ गाने, वीडियो और फ़ोटोज़ शेयर करने का सबसे आसान ज़रिया था। चूंकि, Bluetooth का इस्तेमाल बेहद सरल था, इसलिए कुछ ही समय में ये तकनीक बेहद लोकप्रिय हो गई।

Bluetooth के बारे में तो सभी जानते होंगे, लेकिन क्या आपको पता है कि Bluetooth का नीले रंग का सिम्बल यानि चिन्ह कैसे आया और इसका नाम 'Bluetooth' क्यों रखा गया? अगर नहीं, तो आइए हम आपको इसके बारे में बताते हैं।

Bluetooth का आविष्कार 1994 में हुआ था. इसे बनाने का श्रेय स्वीडन की दूरसंचार कम्पनी 'Ericsson' को जाता है। इस कम्पनी के इंजीनियर्स ने आपसी सहयोग से Bluetooth तकनीक को इजाद किया. Bluetooth के नाम और नीले सिम्बल के पीछे एक दिलचस्प किस्सा है।

Bluetooth के नाम के पीछे की कहानी टेक्नोलॉजी से नहीं, बल्कि राजनीति से जुड़ी है। Bluetooth का नाम Jim Kardach ने दिया था, जो Bluetooth बनाने वाली टीम का हिस्सा थे। Jim Kardach की मानें, तो उन्होंने Bluetooth का नाम डेनमार्क के 10वीं सदी के राजा King Harald Bluetooth के नाम से लिया है।

Harald Bluetooth के नाम के पीछे भी एक दिलचस्प किस्सा है। 10वीं शताब्दी में डेनमार्क के राजा Harald Blatand थे। Blatand को Blueberries खाने का बहुत शौक़ था। ज़्यादा Blueberries खाने के कारण राजा के दांत भी नीले पड़ गए थे। उसी राजा को ध्यान में रखते हुए इस डिवाइस का नाम Bluetooth रखा गया। 

 इसके अलावा राजा के नाम को Scandinavian Runes में Hagal Bjarkan लिखा जाता है. इसी नाम के पहले दोनों अक्षरों, H और B को मिलाकर Bluetooth का चिन्ह बनाया गया है।

आज वही Bluetooth डिजिटल युग का एक अहम हिस्सा बन गया है. साल 2000 तक सिर्फ़ 5% डिवाइसेज़ में Bluetooth आता था, जबकि आज लगभग 95% डिवाइसेज़ में ये होता है। 

Bluetooth तकनीक का प्रयोग करके हेडफ़ोन से लेकर माउस, की-बोर्ड, प्रिंटर को कम्प्यूटर और फ़ोन जैसी अदी, डिवाइसेज़ से जोड़ा जा सकता है। इस बेहतरीन तकनीक ने डिजिटल क्रान्ति लाने में सबसे अहम भूमिका निभाई है।
